about

I always get scared sharing my music with others, especially those that want to collaborate with me. I have such a weird and specific way of building songs and, based on past experiences, I feel like to share is to open yourself to manipulation and change. That's why almost every PLL release up until now has been recorded and performed by me (with the exceptions of occasional features and our split w/ mechk9). However, the PLL live band/sound has evolved and grown so much over the past 4 years that now I feel like PLL can't just be me anymore. Brian, Meg, and Sam have added so much to this project and made it into what it is today. This band would be nothing without them. I couldn't have brought any of these songs to life without them, and the help of everyone in the production process. To them, thank you endlessly.

Here's an ep that is the new precious little life in our rawest form. Just a taste of what's to come from us. It includes 4 songs with the theme of the old rhyme that inspired the title of this project, "Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue". "Heresy" was one of the first songs I wrote way back in 2018, originally from an acoustic record called "millennium" (something old). "Sunny Day" was a song we wrote together recently, and now we play it seamlessly from "Heresy" when we play it live (something new). Skipping to the last track, "Memory", originally by Alex G (not from fucking Cats), was a cover I recorded a few years ago in 2021, now dedicated to a friend that passed away the same year (something borrowed). Finally (but going back to track 3), "Easy Comma Breezy" is a song that, while having upbeat and driving instrumentals, tackles a more somber lyrical approach about giving up and asks the question, "What's the point in still trying if we're all just surviving?" (something blue). "Sixpence" is a reference to the last line of the rhyme.

These songs were originally apart of a split (don't worry, that's still in the works just with different songs), but we wanted to showcase these as a new era for PLL. These recordings aren't perfect, there are flubs and wrong notes and I can't sing in tune for the life of me, but this is us. We love these songs because we all had a hand in making it. I love these songs because these songs aren't just me anymore, I can share them with my incredible friends and with you. Thank you for listening and reading this far.

love you,
kev! <3
